We have a beautiful Apricot tree just outside my studio window. It blossoms in early spring every year and we look forward to it. Indiana winters seem long and dreary sometimes and the blossoming Apricot tree is a site for sore eyes. Unfortunately it is a very old tree and last year’s winds took their toll. We’re hoping the tree survives another year while a sampling grows close by.
I tried to keep this watercolor simple and share some of the beauty I see every spring. I masked some of the whites so that I could paint wet-in-wet without losing them later. It is fun to watch the colors mix on the paper but you have to get the consistency of paint to water just right. Takes practice. Then I just kept working the colors layer by layer until I had what I wanted.
